⛰ What It's About

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

🧠 Thoughts

When I first read the reviews for this particular book, I was skeptical and had doubts on whether it was a good idea to read this book.

Almost all the reviews were talking about how creepy the book was and that the readers had a hard time falling asleep after reading. As a scaredy-cat myself, I was hesitant to read this book as I wanted to sleep well.

In the end, I just picked up the book because I love Colleen Hoover’s works and this is something different from what she usually writes.

This book is quite a masterpiece. While reading the book, you can slowly realise how much more depth there is than it puts out at the start. For me, this book is not that creepy as I still can sleep relatively well at night. It just has an eerie vibe throughout the story.

To add on, Colleen Hoover is a master at plot twists and the plot twist in this book was not expected at all as it changes the whole outlook of the book.
