Before reading the book, I already knew that this is a dystopian book trilogy and it will surely be like a modified replica of hunger games. But because it is a popular book series, I decided to read the series. I can say that I definitely enjoyed reading this series. It is actually not that similar to Hunger Games because both series lives in different systems of governing.
I've read the reviews on Goodreads of this book and I saw that a lot of readers gave this book a low rating just because it is a dystopian series (because it looks like the author is trying to copy Hunger Games). I personally feel that this is an unfair judgement. Read this series with an open heart and you can see how good the story actually is.
However, I felt that the third book of this series, Allegiant, is not as good as the first and second book as there are too much going on (too much distress, fighting, drama) and I got bored near the middle of the book. Hence, because of this, I gave this series a 3/5 stars.
(Start of spoilers) This is one of the only books I've read where the main character actually dies at the end and reading the events that occur after her death from another character's point of view is very depressing for me. But that's also what makes this series memorable. (End of spoilers)
Below are some of my favourite quotes from the series:
“We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.”
“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”
